Kristen Hatgi

Kristen Hatgi was Born December 24, 1984 in Denver Colorado. Hatgi spent her childhood years drawing, sculpting, and sewing (among other things). At twelve she started making pictures in her room with no concept of art. At sixteen she took a photography class at her high school from an inspiring teacher Paul Harbough. After much time experimenting at school and taking over one of two household bathrooms as a darkroom, she was in love with the process. Along side being inspired in the class room Hatgi began working at Gallery Sink, where she became even more enlightened about art, gallery life, and being an artist.

Hatgi spent five years at the Art Institute of Boston where she studied under Christopher James and Cig Harvey (among other of course) Her love for things simple and interest lead her deeper into alternative processes and in her final year to learn the Collodion wet plate process.

Kristen Hatgi received her BFA from the Art institute of Boston in 2008. She has show In Denver, Washington DC, Boston, and NYC.

Hatgi now lives in Denver, Colorado where she works as a photographer, graphic designer, web designer, florist, and peruses her personal art along side collaborating with Mark Sink, making collodion wet plate images.
